Breathtaking Truth:
In our lifetime, our lungs take around 672,768,000 breaths to make our lives possible. Learn how the Lung Health Foundation can support you in caring for your lungs the way they deserve.
Our breath fuels every moment of our lives—big and small—but most Canadians don’t think about their lung health until they or a loved one faces respiratory illness. We take more than 20,000 breaths per day, enabling us to take in oxygen to sustain our lives and everything we do. Healthy lungs allow us to be who we are.
For Olympian, World Champion, and Lung Health Foundation ambassador Maggie Mac Neil, lung health is critical. Diagnosed with asthma at 17, Maggie adjusted her career to focus on short distances. Every breath she takes contributes to her triumphs and hardships. Committed to advocating for awareness, education, and research, Maggie emphasizes the importance of lung health. Despite her condition, she excels in sports and shows that children with asthma can remain active and achieve high levels. Maggie supports the Lung Health Foundation as a vital resource for improving respiratory health knowledge among Canadians.
For over a century, the Ontario Lung Association has tirelessly strived to be the recognized leader, voice and primary resource in lung health in Canada. Building on that legacy, the Lung Health Foundation was formed, and we are committed to supporting and empowering individuals living with lung disease across Canada. Through our community initiatives, grassroots educational programs, research, and advocacy, we elevate awareness and foster a compassionate environment for those affected by lung conditions, including their caregivers.
